Liverpool have been scouting Aberdeen teenager Calvin Ramsay and are preparing a summer move for the promising talent.

The 18-year-old has been impressing those visiting from Anfield, so much so that the Reds are looking to bring him in as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

Ramsay made his Scottish Premiership debut for Aberdeen last year and has been a regular in the first team this season, making 22 league appearances.

The Sun report that Liverpool fancy a move for him as he is a similar type of full-back to Alexander-Arnold, although clearly not at the England international’s level just yet.

Obviously the young Scot would have to settle for an understudy role if he moved south of the border, but with Liverpool still competing in three competitions at this stage of the season – having won the other tournament hey were involved in – there will be chances to play.

Joe Gomez has filled in at right-back when needed, with Neco Williams out on loan at Fulham this season in the Championship.

If Liverpool brought in Ramsay from Aberdeen it looks likely that Williams could move on, with a permanent switch to the Cottagers a possibility as they are set to be in the Premier League next season.

Ramsay is enjoying being spoken about in terms of a move to a huge club like Liverpool, but is trying to ignore the talk and focus on his performances.

‘It’s all been good because growing up it’s all you want to do — play first-team football, then hopefully get a big move one day in the future,’ he told

‘It’s all about learning and you’ve got to keep calm. You can’t let it get to your head. If you do you can end up thinking you’re better than you are and not playing how you can.

‘At one stage it seemed like there was something on Twitter or in the papers almost every day. I tried not to get caught up in it because that’s the worst thing you can do.

‘It’s good hearing all that stuff, but I’ve just got to produce on the pitch, then everything else will play itself out. At the start of the season I felt I was doing really well, then I got my injury and came back.’
