Louis Saha believes is delighted that are making a move for ‘exciting’ star Sofyan Amrabat.
On Thursday, it was reported that Amrabat had informed Fiorentina that he wished to leave the club amid interest from United, Barcelona and .
is a big fan of the defensive midfielder who came to widespread attention at Qatar 2022, with his outstanding performances helping Morocco become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
The 26-year-old also had a good season at club level, playing 49 games in total as Fiorentina reached the finals of the Coppa Italia and the Europa Conference League.
With his contract up next summer, the Serie A club are willing to heed to his wishes and cash-in, and .
With transfer funds tight, Amrabat would seemingly be a bargain transfer for the Red Devils and Saha believes he is the right man for Ten Hag’s system.
‘Amrabat is a player that I really like and he’s got a great intensity level that I don’t believe is matched,’ the former United forward told .
‘It would be exciting to see him at Manchester United and he would improve the overall balance of the squad. We need legs, we need energy and we need strength that can help us upset teams.
‘Mason Mount is another player that can provide the team with more energy as he’s one of those footballers that runs eleven kilometres a game.’
Having spent £60m on Mount and a further £47m on incoming goalkeeper Andre Onana, Ten Hag will have raise funds if he is to land both Amrabat and a new striker, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund heavily linked.
Among those on the chopping block are midfield duo and Scott McTominay, though Saha warns that if one or both of them are to leave the signing of a replacement like Amrabat must become the first priority.
He added: ‘Manchester United could benefit from the addition of another midfielder because you hear rumours that Fred or Scott McTominay could leave the club this summer.
‘You definitely need to have two defensive midfielders in your squad, so if Fred or Scott do leave this summer, then you’re going to have to bring another player in. Marcel Sabitzer also left the club in the summer as well.’
