says he ‘loves’ being at after returning to the starting XI in the victory at Brentford on Saturday evening.

The Gunners beat the Bees 1-0 at the G-tech Community Stadium thanks to a late header, a result that moves the club to the top of the table.

With first-choice goalkeeper David Raya ineligible to face his parent club, Ramsdale was recalled to the line-up having been surprisingly ousted by the Spaniard earlier this season.

Mikel Arteta’s decision to replace the England keeper has been highly divisive and much discussed, with rumours swirling that the 25-year-old may leave the Emirates in pursuit of regular game time.

And that speculation will only grow with the news that and after for keeping a clean sheet against Brentford.

But all of that doesn’t appear to have dampened Ramsdale’s spirits too much, with the keeper taking to social media to thank fans and share his love for the Gunners.

‘A feeling I never take for granted,’ he posted on Instagram on Sunday.

‘Love being part of this club. Fans were next level last night looking out for me. Thank you.’

Though he kept a clean sheet, his third in eight games so far this season, Ramsdale didn’t have the easiest of games at Brentford.

During the first-half, he came very close to gifting the Bees a goal after taking an age to do anything with the ball under no pressure from a Gabriel Magalhaes backpass.

Ramsdale was closed down and dispossessed by Yoane Wissa, with Bryan Mbeumo’s shot cleared off the line and Wissa putting the rebound wide.

Through the match, home fans taunted the keeper with chants of ‘You’re just a s**t David Raya’, while Gary Neville blamed the mistake on Arteta:

The Manchester United legend tweeted: ‘This is what happens when you have [two] keepers eating each other! You put them both under pressure.’
