midfielder Lucas Torreira is set to undergo a medical with Galatasaray in the next 48 hours ahead of completing a £7.5million move to the club.
The Uruguayan midfielder spent last season on loan at Fiorentina and he impressed enough for the Italian club to wish to buy him on a permanent basis.
However, they couldn’t afford the £12.5m clause in Torreira’s loan deal and Galatasaray have offered the combative midfielder higher wages to move to Turkey.
Torreira joined the Gunners in 2018 from Sampdoria for a fee of around £23m and he initially impressed supporters with his spirited displays.
However, he failed to find a regular position under Unai Emery and he was ostracised under Mikel Arteta, who saw no future for him at the club.
Torreira has received significant interest from Spain, with Valencia and Sevilla both interested in signing the midfielder.
But he wants guaranteed first-team football before the World Cup this winter and Galatasaray offer Torreira that opportunity.
Arsenal have signed Fabio Vieira already this summer to further push Torreira down the pecking order at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta is pushing the club’s interest in Youri Tielemans and he is confident that the Gunners can win the race for the Belgian.
The 25-year-old has one year to run on his Leicester City deal and he’s told the club he won’t sign an extension to his contract.
Leicester are resigned to losing the Belgium international and will seek to recoup the £30m they paid for him three years ago.
