Luke Shaw has praised ‘top, top manager’ Erik ten Hag and says the team will have a clear structure to play in for the ‘first time in a while’ next season.
The Dutchman has been putting his new squad through their paces over the last two weeks and training is set to go up a notch this week with United taking on Liverpool in their first friendly tomorrow.
Ten Hag was appointed because of his clear identity and philosophy, and the players are said to have responded positively to his meticulous work on the training ground.
Shaw flourished under but the Norwegian was often criticised for lacking the tactical know-how to take the Red Devils to silverware.
Ralf Rangnick was similarly criticised, with United collapsing to a sixth-place finish under the German last term.
And Shaw’s taken a clear dig at his former managers by saying that United will now have a ‘structure’ to play under thanks to Ten Hag’s training methods.
‘It’s clear that he’s a top, top manager. He has a structure to play the way he wants us to play,’ said Shaw.
‘We haven’t had that for quite a while, and it was clear to see last season, which was extremely disappointing
‘We have to bounce back [from last season] and he has been working us extremely hard, but I think we need it.
‘We’re really looking forward to this season because I know it’s going to be much better than the last one.’
