Former striker Dwight Yorke wants his old club to sign striker on loan this summer.
Lukaku spent two years at Old Trafford from 2017 to 2019, registering 42 goals across 96 matches in all competitions.
He was then sold to Inter Milan and helped the Italian side win the Serie A title before making his return with a second stint at Chelsea.
But it has not worked out for the Belgian in west London and after he spent last season back on loan at Inter Milan.
but has recently attracted surprise interest from Tottenham as they look to bring in a replacement for Harry Kane.
But former Red Devil Yorke feels Lukaku could be a valuable asset for Erik ten Hag’s side if the club opted to sign him for a second time, especially with new striker Rasmus Hojlund out injured.
‘Romelu Lukaku is absolutely still good enough to play for a top-six club,’ Yorke told .
‘I think Man United or Tottenham should take Lukaku on a short-term loan deal and agree to pay a certain amount of his wages.
‘As much as people say about Lukaku, he has a very impressive goalscoring record and he doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves.
‘If you have a fired-up Lukaku who wants to play for you, he’s a match-winner and a handful for any opponent in the world.
‘Man United have invested heavily in Rasmus Hojlund, but if you want to compete with the best then Lukaku is that player who can score 15 to 20 goals in a season, which is priceless and hard to find in today’s game.
‘Lukaku is still only 30-years-old and a proven goalscorer, I think whoever gets him on a short loan deal will have done good and subtle business.’
United got their season started on Monday with a 1-0 Premier League win over Wolves and travel to face Tottenham on Saturday.
