This weekend’s encounter between Man City and Liverpool is being built-up as a title clash with only one point separating the two sides.
In recent years, both clubs have been the leading forces of English football with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp having shared the Premier League title in each of the last four seasons.
Ahead of their crunch meeting, City manager Guardiola also praised Alexander-Arnold, describing the England international as an ‘exhibition’, while also acknowledging that Klopp has become the main adversary of his managerial career.
‘In the time I’ve been here both teams are the top two in the last five years,’ Guardiola said. ‘It’s been an incredible and marvellous contender.
‘I said many times my opinion about Liverpool, how admired they are, Jurgen has been as a manager the biggest rival I’ve ever had in my career and I think what both teams propose, the way they play, is good for the football – we are ready for the challenge.’
A Manchester City victory on Sunday would extend the Sky Blues’ lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points.
