The Glazer family have kept executives in the dark over the club’s future as they deem the takeover to be a ‘family matter’ rather than a club one.
The Raine Group, who oversaw the sale of last year, have been hired to take control of the bids being made for United.
The deadline to make bids is this Friday, with offers expected from the UK, , America and Saudi Arabia.
United are valued at around £3.9bn but the Glazer family are hoping to raise as much as £6bn through a full sale.
They feel it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for investors to get their hands on arguably the biggest football club on the planet.
New owners could rip up the current structure at the club and bring in a string of new executives.
But there’s been no attempt from the Glazer family to ease the tension at Old Trafford, with the Athletic saying the board have been kept in the dark over a potential sale.
The Glazers are dealing directly with Raine Group and have given no updates to executives about the process.
