’s backroom staff have raised concerns over since his arrival last from Fiorentina.
The Moroccan joined United on a season-long loan deal on deadline day in August after months of speculation.
United couldn’t afford a permanent deal for Amrabat given their Financial Fair Play restrictions, but they resisted Fiorentina’s attempts to include an obligation-to-buy.
But, despite Ten Hag’s determination to land Amrabat, the Moroccan has failed to show the type of form that made him one of the stars of the 2022 .
In fact, Amrabat was benched in favour of teenager Kobbie Mainoo against Everton last Sunday.
That’s despite the fact that Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen are unavailable.
And the say there has been internal reservations raised over Amrabat, and his suitability to the side.
His performances have been below-par and erratic, with Amrabat failing to get up to speed with life in England.
Gary Neville claimed on Sunday that United only moved for Amrabat following injury to Mainoo in pre-season.
‘I’d heard earlier on in the season because I’m like everybody else I’m asking “What’s going on? Why are we not signing a player in midfield? And it was told to me that if Mainoo stays fit then they won’t sign another midfield player,’ said Neville.
‘Mainoo obviously got injured with the ankle injury and then all of a sudden Amrabat came back onto the table. But they weren’t going to sign another player.’
