Napoli star Kim Min-Jae is on the brink of sealing his move to with the club having already found a house for their new signing in the area.
The 26-year-old centre-half only joined the Italian giants last summer in a £16m deal from Fenerbahce, enjoying a superb season at Napoli and playing a key role in their Serie A title success.
United are ready to take advantage of a release cause in Kim’s contract that is active during the first two weeks of July, making him available for a fee thought to be between £51million and £56million.
Recent reports have suggested the with now reporting the deal is ‘practically concluded’.
The report adds United have also found a villa in the Alderley Edge area for the defender, who will bank £7.8m-a-year at Old Trafford.
United have agreed to pay the fee up front but also enquired into a possible deal which would have seen Victor Lindelof move in the opposition direction to reduce the fee.
Napoli however want the full fee paid.
Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been Erik ten Hag’s first choice pairing at the back this campaign with the Argentina international enjoying a superb first season that was brought to a premature end in April due to a metatarsal injury.
Varane is fit again for the final games of the season, missing eight league games through injury this season.
Harry Maguire is expected to leave Old Trafford having fallen down the pecking order this season, with Luke Shaw also preferred over the club captain at centre-half on occasion this season.
United will also release Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe at the end of the season when their contracts expire with Eric Bailly also set to be moved on.
Signing a new striker this summer is a priority for ten Hag with Harry Kane the manager’s preferred option.
The club are also eager to bring in a new midfield option.
