are furious with Michael Oliver’s decision to book Bruno Fernandes during the side’s 2-0 defeat to on Saturday.
The midfielder was cautioned for dissent during the first half, when he queried a yellow card given to team-mate .
However, as captain, Fernandes is given special dispensation under new rulings to approach the referee.
But Oliver ignored those rules and gave Fernandes a yellow with barely a second’s thought.
That has angered United, who feel Fernandes’ reputation is now going before him.
The midfielder regularly berates officials, and received two yellow cards last season for dissent.
But, as the club’s new captain, he has permission to speak to referees.
Oliver’s performance didn’t improve much from a United perspective.
The side were furious that he failed to award a penalty from a clear handball from Christian Romero after an Alejandro Garnacho shot.
Facunde Pellestri was tripped in the area in the second half, but again Oliver was not interested.
