Manchester United handed huge transfer boost with Christian Eriksen wanting Premier League stay

have received huge encouragement in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen with the midfielder wanting to stay in the Premier League.

The Dane, 30, is available on a free transfer this summer after his six-month deal with Brentford ended.

The Red Devils are reportedly interested in the former Tottenham star as they look to add creativity to their midfield and were impressed with his performances for the Bees last season.

According to the , Eriksen has offers from outside of England but would prefer to remain playing in the Premier League next term.

Eriksen spent over six seasons at Spurs before leaving to join Inter Milan and played a major part in the north London club’s rise under Mauricio Pochettino.

During his time with Spurs, he made over 200 appearances in the Premier League and scored 51 goals.

It is believed previous United managers including Louis van Gaal and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried to sign the player when they were in charge at Old Trafford.

He would make an astute signing for Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman short in midfield following the departures of Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

It is reported the club’s negotiations for Eriksen will not affect their deal to try and sign Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.

Speaking this week about his future, Eriksen said via : ‘There are many criteria and many different things inside such a decision. Sometimes it goes fast in football, other times a little slower. 

‘You are not in control of it yourself. I have to make the best decision and not rush anything through. 

‘My phone stays on, but I also know my agent well enough to know that he only calls if there’s something exciting.’
