Erik ten Hag hopes to sign up to four players before the transfer window closes after agreed a deal to sign winger Antony.
Antony, 22, looks set to be granted his wish of moving to Old Trafford after widespread reports of an £84m fee being agreed with Ajax on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilian had been a priority target for Ten Hag since he joined the club earlier in the summer but United spent much of their energy in an unsuccessful pursuit for Frenkie de Jong.
However, Antony took matters into his own hands over the weekend by essentially going on strike in the Dutch capital and Ajax have caved to his demands by accepting a record fee for an Eredivisie player.
But United’s work is far from done this summer and the Telegraph say Ten Hag wants to sign three more players once Antony is through the door.
Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka has handed in a transfer request in a bid to get his move to Old Trafford but their remains distance between the two clubs over the nature of the deal.
A right-back and another central midfielder are the other two main priorities but Ten Hag is open to signing another forward instead of a midfielder, depending on who is available.
Thomas Meunier, the Dortmund defender, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and the Belgian is known to be a lifelong United fan.
The 30-year-old would provide competition for Diogo Dalot, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka available for transfer.
A midfielder may be more difficult to secure, though United have held initial talks with Lazio for Sergej Milinković-Savić.
The Serbian has long been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams but he’s valued at around £50m by the Serie A club.
