As struggles to find the right next move for him after leaving , he is now considering retiring from playing football, according to reports.
The 32-year-old left Old Trafford when his contract expired at the end of last season, ending a 12-season stint with the giants.
He came in for some criticism during his years with the Red Devils, but also excelled at times and there was no suggestion that leaving the club was going to be the end of his career.
However, report that the Spain international is considering retirement if he does not receive an offer from a major club who want him to be first choice goalkeeper.
De Gea has received multiple offers over the summer, including from Saudi Arabia, but money is not thought to be a major factor for him.
The Spaniard is keen to play for a team competing for major honours and to be brought in as first choice, but that opportunity is yet to arise.
He is still training alone to stay fit and is ready to sign for a club as a free agent as and when the right chance turns up, but if it doesn’t then retirement could await.
There have been some huge clubs linked with De Gea this summer, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, but none of those moves matieralised.
Real Betis and Valencia are also reportedly interested, but clearly De Gea has not been made an offer he is keen on just yet.
