have opened talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to reports in Germany.
United have made the signing but it’s understood that is keen to recruit a new right-sided defender.
Both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford as their contracts with United are due to expire next year.
Frimpong, meanwhile, has been one of Leverkusen’s standout performers this season and is the team’s joint-top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with eight goals.
According to , United have now begun ‘concrete talks’ with Frimpong’s representatives ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report claims that Leverkusen will be holding out for a €40 million (£35m) transfer fee for the 22-year-old.
Frimpong came through Manchester City’s youth academy but failed to make a first-team appearance before he joined Celtic in 2019.
The defender won the domestic treble in his first season at Celtic but spent just 16 months with the Scottish club before he joined Leverkusen in 2021.
Frimpong will still have two years remaining on his current deal with Leverkusen this summer.
But the German club are already preparing for his departure as they have signed Brazilian right-back Arthur in a deal worth €7m (£6.1m) from America Futebol Club.
