are already planning for next season, despite the uncertainty over who will take charge of the club.

The Red Devils interviewed Erik ten Hag over the vacant managerial role at Old Trafford earlier this week but they plan on speaking to a number of other candidates, such as and Julen Lopetegui.

But who is in charge of the side next season is just one of the many uncertainties hanging over the club, with United unsure if they will be playing football next term.

The likes of , Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are all out of contract at the end of the season and are expected to depart the club.

It means the new manager will have to replace a number of players that have left and the board know they cannot afford to wait until the new man is in place before they start the process.

The Telegraph therefore claim United are already looking at what areas the need to strengthen and that they plan to sign two midfielders and a striker this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, particularly if United fail to make the top four.

Regardless, the new manager will want to sign a new striker as Cavani and possibly Anthony Martial could be on their way out.

Midfield is an area that United desperately need to strengthen and Nemanja Matic could follow Pogba out the door.

Declan Rice of West Ham is a priority target but West Ham want around £150m for the England midfielder.
