‘The boys are elated,’ Cucurella’s girlfriend, Claudia Rodriguez, told Espejo Publico when asked whether she had managed to to speak with the full-back.
‘I called Marc when they were back on the bus [after the defeat of France] and they had a huge party going on. They were super happy.
‘They deserve it and hopefully on Sunday we can win the title.’

‘The truth is that it is a source of great pride to see him wearing the Spanish national team shirt and to see him doing what he is doing at the Euros.
‘It is wonderful to see how far the boys have come and how they have brought the country back together.’
While Cucurella has far exceeded expectations with his individual showings at the Euros, the left-back found himself the target of boos and jeers during Spain’s semi-final victory over France in Munich – leaving many viewers confused.

‘The good thing is that we are still in the tournament and that’s what I am concentrating on.’
In a recent interview with El Partidazo, Cucurella suggested he would dye his curly locks red if Spain go all the way in Germany and Rodriguez appeared to confirm this was still on the cards should Spain triumph over the Three Lions.
‘I think he has promised to dye his hair red,’ she explained.
‘But he has not promised me anything and I am not going to force him.’
Rodriguez continued: ‘He has had long hair all his life, since he was little.
‘The thing is that he had straight hair and when he got older it started to curl a lot and that’s how it’s stayed
‘It’s part of his personality and identity and people often tell me to cut his hair, but I love it.’
