legend Martin Keown believes is questioning his decision to re-sign for Manchester United.
The Red Devils suffered a surprise defeat to struggling on Saturday, with Anthony Gordon’s deflected first-half strike winning the game for the relegation-threatened Toffees.
United struggled to create many clear-cut chances at Goodison Park, with Ronaldo a frustrated figure up front for ’s side.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner completed a dramatic return to Old Trafford over the summer, and has netted 18 times across all competitions, but couldn’t make it 19 against Frank Lampard’s side.
Rangnick brought on Juan Mata and Anthony Elanga in the second half, but the substitutes made little difference.
While commentating on the match for BT Sport during the closing stages at Goodison Park, Keown said: ‘Disappointing from a point of view, [Bruno] Fernandes as well – the one you expect to play the passes, not coming off for him.
‘I think that [running out of ideas] comes from the manager with the changes that he’s made.
‘I’ve seen [Juan] Mata come on, it’s almost like there are too many passers on the pitch right now.
‘[Marcus] Rashford came off. You want someone who’s going to stretch the game, [Anthony] Elanga’s done nothing since he’s been on.
‘Ronaldo, I think he’s looking around him and thinking, “Why did I come here for?” It’s not what they expected at all.’
