Martin Keown believes three stars were at fault for Liverpool’s opening goal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal missed a host of chances in the first-half and were made to pay 10 minutes from full-time.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross caused havoc in the Arsenal area, with Kiowor getting the last touch having glanced a header past his own goalkeeper.

Former Gunners defender Martin Keown also questioned the role of centre-half Gabriel Magalhães in the goal, also believing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was ‘too slow’ to move off his line.

Keown told BBC One: ‘I just wondered if Gabriel could have headed it the other way, he seemed to just collapse.

‘The goalkeeper can’t get to it, Ramsdale is late to move off. Kiowor, I feel he should be doing a lot better.

‘Of course he is not doing that deliberately. But there is always something you can do to improve that.’

Jurgen Klopp made four changes in the second-half which helped Liverpool take control of the contest. With Virgil van Dijk missing through illness, Ibrahima Konate starred at centre-half to keep the home side at bay.

Speaking after the game, Alexander-Arnold said: ‘It’s huge. We’ve got a lot of players missing today with the lads on internationals and Virg not in the squad. We dug deep with two late goals.

‘We changed things around at half-time and we came out and played football, created our chances. The change of system made an impact for us.’

Arsenal have now lose three games in a row following league defeats to West Ham United and Fulham heading into Sunday’s fixture.

They are not in action again until 20 January when they welcome Crystal Palace to north London.
