Arsenal legend Martin Keown has accused commentary of being biased against his former side, calling for Martin Tyler to be banned from commentating on their games.

, a result which effectively ended their Premier League title challenge with now holding a four-point lead at the top.

Long-serving Sky Sports commentator Tyler and former defender Gary Neville were on duty for the broadcast with the duo typically in place on the gantry for Sunday’s late afternoon kick-off.

Both praised Brighton as the visitors turned in an excellent display away from home to strengthen their own European prospects, with Keown left raging with what he perceived to be biased coverage.

‘The Sky commentary yesterday, how biased the commentary team is, it is frightening,’ Keown told.

‘Martin Tyler is a great professional but he just cannot hide how much it simply hurts him that Arsenal might win a game of football. We know that Neville has got the problem, he was almost apologising for it.

He continued: ‘I should be more respectful, Martin is a great commentator but please Sky don’t put him on Arsenal games anymore it’s a really hard listen.

‘Get the Arsenal fans in, they have got to listen to it. There is only 60,000 in the stadium, millions of us are listening at home having to listen to that.’

Asked by host Jim White if he believes Tyler is anti-Arsenal, he added: ‘Yes I do, let’s get it out there.’

Arsenal needed to win to keep their title hopes alive but a sorry second-half display left manager Mikel Arteta apologising for the performance post-match.

‘A week away from here I was standing here and feeling proud, that was the feeling that I had, but today I have to apologise because the performance we had in the second half is not acceptable,’ Arteta told Sky Sports.

‘Mathematically it [the Premier League title] is still possible and this is football, but today it is impossible to be thinking about it, we have to digest the result and performance we had in the second half, understand why and have a very different performance in the next game.

‘We conceded a goal when they were really direct in behind, then from there the team had no reaction. Obviously when you give the silly goal away the second one then the team collapsed, the team had no answers.’
