said he is very happy to be at Getafe as he was unveiled to his new fans after a loan switch from .
Greenwood was suspended by the Red Devils on January 30, 2022 over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online.
The international faced charges including attempted rape and assault, but the Crown Prosecution Service announced in February that the case had been discontinued.
A lengthy internal investigation then took place at Manchester United and they concluded that Greenwood would be continuing his career elsewhere, with Getafe agreeing a season-long loan deal for the 21-year-old.
The La Liga club appear thrilled to have snapped up the forward, promoting his arrival heavily on social media and he was unveiled to fans at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Tuesday.
After coming out onto the pitch and performing a couple of tricks, Greenwood was asked about his arrival at the club, saying: ‘I’m very happy to be here and I’m excited to see all the fans.’
Having not played a competitive match since January 2022, the young striker was understandably asked about his physical situation after he trained with his new club for the first time earlier in the day.
‘I’ve been training for four or five months so I’m getting up to speed,’ he said. ‘With my teammates here in my first training was good, so I’m feeling quite well.’
Greenwood will have the opportunity to make his Getafe debut against Osasuna on 17 October in La Liga, which he is already eyeing up.
‘We’ll take one game at a time and I know the next home game is coming up in a few weeks,’ he said. ‘We’ll try and win it and do our best.’
Speaking at a press conference following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at , Getafe boss Jose Bordalas said of the allegations against the forward: ‘It is a very delicate situation to trivialise that issue.
‘Everyone knows what happened and appropriate measures were taken. Everyone knows how it ended, with a non-convictory sentence. He is a footballer of a very high level and arrives at Getafe with enormous enthusiasm. Surely he wants to recover his professional status and Getafe can help him in that sense.’
