Mason Mount no closer to new Chelsea deal despite Mauricio Pochettino demand to restart negotiations

is no closer to extending his stay at despite ’s hopes for the club to reopen contract talks with the midfielder.

Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2024 and despite attempts throughout the season to agree a new deal, there has been no sign of a breakthrough.

The international is seeking a deal that brings him closer in line with Chelsea’s top earners and while his preference is to remain in west London, a move away will beckon this summer if no agreement is met.

Pochettino is set to take the reins at Chelsea and believes Mount can play an integral role in his plans to lift the club from their slump.

report the Argentine will ask the club restart negotiations with the player and his team as soon as his own appointment is confirmed.

But despite Pochettino viewing him as a key part of his rebuild, Mount’s future remains in doubt.

If no new contract is agreed this summer, Chelsea will sell their academy graduate rather than risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season.  

Chelsea are set to cash in on a number of their former academy players this summer with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Callum Hudson-Odoi are also among those who could be moved on.

Levi Colwill, currently on loan at Brighton has attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides but reports suggest he will be part of the Chelsea first-team squad next season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly will also be made available while the club could also cash in on Mateo Kovacic.

Like Mount,

Both Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in signing the 29-year-old this summer with Thomas Tuchel also keen on a reunion at Bayern Munich.
