’s has once again warned as he prepares to battle him for the No.1 goalkeeper position.
The Gunners and will link up with his new team-mates this month.
Turner, named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year last season, has made 109 appearances for New England Revolution and has 16 caps for the USA.
The 27-year-old will join Ramsdale and Bernd Leno as the senior goalkeepers in Mikel Arteta’s squad, although German shot-stopper Leno is expected to leave after losing his place in the side.
Former Bournemouth and Sheffield United man Ramsdale has established himself as Arsenal’s top ‘keeper – putting in a string of impressive performances last term after his £30m move last summer – but has drawn criticism from some for winding up opposition fans during games.
Despite that, the 24-year-old is now pushing Everton’s Jordan Pickford for the England No.1 spot with the 2022 World Cup around the corner.Â
Turner, though, feels he can do what Ramsdale did a year ago and make a big impact. Quizzed about being a back-up ‘keeper, he told : ‘I can see why they’d assess it that way.
‘Aaron had an amazing season for Arsenal and played well all year. I’d agree with it for now. I’m coming in to push him and become the best goalkeeper I can become, while also making him the best goalkeeper he can become.
‘That’s really my goal for it all… The DNA of this team is possession-based and I believe that’s what they will expect from me when I get on the pitch.
‘It’s the area of my game that some call a weakness but one where I’ve improved over the past few months. I’m connecting a few more passes, reading the game better and understanding the way I can hurt teams a lot better.
‘We don’t play that [passing] style in New England but when I go with the national team, we do. When I have extended periods with the national team, I read the game better and make more passes.
‘I’m excited to be at Arsenal to do that every single day instead of two or three weeks here or there.’
