Micah Richards says under-fire Arsenal star was ‘outstanding’ against Liverpool

Micah Richards was full of praise for after his performance against Liverpool, saying the captain was ‘back to his best’.

Arsenal claimed an impressive and crucial 3-1 victory on Sunday to move within two points of their title rivals.

, and Leandro Trossard grabbed the goals, while Jorginho was awarded player of the match for his composed performance at the heart of midfield.

Yet, Richards felt that Odegaard’s contribution went under the radar, with much of the discourse surrounding the Gunners skipper focused on his celebrations after the game instead.

after he took club photographer Stuart MacFarlane’s camera and took photos of the thrilled fans at the Emirates.

‘Dear me. Just get down the tunnel. You’ve won a game. It’s three points,’ Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports.

, but Richards was more interested in discussing what went on during the game and had nothing but good things to say about the Norway star.

‘I know got player of the match but Odegaard today…’ the Manchester City icon said on podcast.

‘Jorginho was class and it was his first start since November so we get it, coming in and having that sort of impact was brilliant.

‘But Odegaard… his passing, his weight of passing and how composed he is on the ball is just outstanding. He is back to his best.

‘He had a bit of a dip when he had his injury this morning but today he was outstanding.’

, ‘average’ and a shadow of his former self, so it will delight Mikel Arteta to no end that he is returning to form.

He’ll be hoping for a similar sort of performance in Arsenal’s next game this Sunday, when they travel to West Ham.
