Michael Owen is backing to beat at the Bernabeu tonight in order to set-up a final showdown against Liverpool.

’s side take a 4-3 aggregate lead to the Spanish capital tonight as they look to book their place in the final for the second consecutive year.

City dominated in the first leg but they failed to convert their chances in the first half, which would have all but finished off the tie.

That allowed a Karim Benzema-inspired Madrid side back into the tie and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will feel confident that they can progress to their first final since 2018.

But Owen believes City will have too much for his former side, with the ex-Liverpool striker backing Guardiola’s side to secure a 2-1 victory.

‘The first leg was a classic, this one should be just as dramatic,’ Owen told .

‘For Real, only losing by a goal was a brilliant result for them, and they’ll be hoping for more heroics at the Bernabeu. Benzema has obviously been incredible in this competition, Real will need more of the same if they are to go through.

‘For City, I’m not sure how they didn’t win by more. They could have been three or four up in the first half, but didn’t take their chances and were left to rue them. There was some excellent performances in the side, but De Bruyne and Silva were simply brilliant.

‘If City play like they did in Manchester, I think they will go through. The atmosphere in Madrid will be amazing, and Real will try to take the game to City. That should suit City though, and I can see them winning this 2-1.’

Liverpool await the winners of tonight’s tie following the Reds’ 5-2 aggregate win against Villarreal.

Should Madrid progress, the final will be a repeat of the 2018 showpiece where Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1.

Should City progress, the Premier League rivals will face each other for the first time in the competition since Liverpool knocked Guardiola’s side out four years ago on their way to the final.
