Brighton star has apologised to over a ‘bad tackle’ that saw the Brazilian limp out of Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to the Seagulls on Sunday.

Martinelli was a target for Brighton after the Brazilian playmaker escaped punishment for a barge on Kaoru Mitoma in the opening stages in north .

Moments later, Caicedo left Martinelli in a heap after a tackle on the winger.

The referee also chose not to punish Caicedo and the anger of Arsenal supporters increased further when Martinelli was forced off injured a few minutes later, as a direct result from the tackle.

Brighton went on to win the game with ease, which effectively ended Arsenal’s title challenge.

Caicedo was one of Brighton’s best performers on the day and that wasn’t lost on supporters, given he was the player to injure Martinelli.

The midfielder pushed for a move to Arsenal in January and the Gunners are considering another bid for the Ecuador international in the summer transfer market.

And, in a move that will appease some Arsenal supporters, Caicedo took to Twitter to apologise for the tackle on Martinelli.

Replying to a video of the incident that claimed Caicedo’s tackle on Martinelli was ‘karma’ for the Brazilian’s challenge on Mitoma, the midfielder apologised for his tackle.

‘If I could turn back time I wouldn’t have made that bad tackle,’ said Caicedo.
