Southampton star Nathan Redmond was not very impressed with at the weekend, telling a fan after beating the Gunners: ‘They’re not very good.’
The Saints scored an impressive victory over Mikel Arteta’s men at St Mary’s on Saturday, with Jan Bednarek scoring the only goal of the game.
The win took Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team up to 12th in the Premier League while it dished out another heavy blow to Arsenal’s top four chances.
Three defeats on the spin for the Gunners have left them in a much trickier position to pinch a place and it does not sound like Redmond fancies their chances of managing it.
In a video posted to social media, Redmond was signing autographs for fans when one asked him how it felt to beat Arsenal and his response was withering.
‘It’s alright, they’re not very good,’ Redmond said in a video posted to However, it is not clear whether the winger realised he was being filmed at the time.
Arsenal’s hopes of a top four finish are not over, but the trio of defeats to Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton have left morale in tatters.
Upcoming games against Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham seem tougher than the three they have just lost, while they also face a potentially crucial trip to Tottenham next month.
Spurs are currently holding onto fourth spot, three points ahead of Manchester United in fifth and Arsenal in sixth.
The Gunners have a game in hand on Tottenham, but 10 worse off on goal difference.
