got into an argument with a section of supporters during ’s 3-1 defeat at the Emirates on Saturday, taunting them over his title collection.

The Red Devils made a woeful start to the match and conceded after just three minutes after tapped in from close range before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

But Cristiano Ronaldo netted an immediate response and United had the chance to level the scores midway through the second half but Bruno Fernandes sent his penalty wide via the outside of the post.

Minutes later, Granit Xhaka wrapped up the match with a long-range effort – though it was somewhat contentious given that Eddie Nketiah was in an offside position and obscuring David de Gea’s view.

Matic, who assisted Ronaldo’s goal with a lovely cross, was substituted in the 77th minute and replaced by Marcus Rashford as United chased an unlikely route back into the game.

But while he took his seat in the dugout to watch the final embers of the match, the veteran Serb allowed himself to be wound up by a section of Arsenal supporters behind the United bench.

The fans were holding up the 3-1 score on their fingers and mocking Matic, which prompted him to hit back.

Holding up three fingers himself, Matic yelled at them: ‘Three, me. Three titles for me, you zero.’

His response may not have had the desired effect, however, with the midfielder’s nibble only encouraging Arsenal’s fans to taunt him even more over the scoreline.

Matic has not won any silverware since moving to Old Trafford, though he did win the Premier League title twice – once under Jose Mourinho, once under Antonio Conte – and also the Primeira Liga in Portugal with Benfica.

The 33-year-old confirmed earlier this month that this season would be his last at United, saying: ‘After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision.

‘It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support. I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible.’
