Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing wantaway forward Timo Werner.
Last week, Werner suggested that he would be open to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer as he wants greater first-team opportunities, something that the arrival of Raheem Sterling will not allow him to have.
While has denied that the German international is unhappy, Chelsea are inclined to sell the 26-year-old given his underwhelming performances in blue.
Werner only joined Chelsea two years ago, in a much hyped, £47million move from RB Leipzig, but since then he has struggled to hit the highs of his time in the Bundesliga.
In 89 games across all competitions, he has scored just 23 goals, only 10 of which came in the Premier League.
Chelsea have reportedly already tried to move the player on this summer, offering him back to Leipzig in a bid to hijack PSG’s deal for defender Nordi Mukiele.
That attempt has failed however, but according to various sources, including , a new one may have emerged in the form of Newcastle.
The Magpies have been splashing the cash this summer, bringing in defenders Sven Botman and Matt Targett, as well as goalkeeper Nick Pope for a combined £60m.
They’ll now focus on bringing attacking upgrades, with Chris Wood and Callum Wilson the only natural strikers at the club, and Werner’s energy and incredible pace may suit Eddie Howe’s style of play.
It is not clear how much Newcastle would have to pay Chelsea to bring Werner to St. James’ Park, or if the player is even interested in moving to the Tyneside.
It was also reported on Tuesday that Juventus have identified Werner, along with Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, as alternative transfer options, should they fail to bring first-choice target Alvaro Morata back to Turin.
