Newcastle will effectively get an early taste of knockout football when they cross the Channel to face Saint-Germain in their penultimate match in this year’s Group of Death.

There’s just three points separating Group F leaders , who face a tricky trip to play at the San Siro, and the Magpies, who are bottom with four points from four games.

Every team in the section has its fate in its own hands and know they are potentially one win from reaching the last 16 and one defeat from failing to progress.

Newcastle and PSG both lost last time out with the Tyneside club falling to a 2-0 defeat in Dortmund and their French rivals tumbling to a 2-1 reversal in Italy.

But both restored confidence with big wins at the weekend with Ligue 1 leaders PSG beating Monaco 5-2 for their seventh win in eight domestic matches and Newcastle returning to form in the Premier League with a 4-1 romp against Chelsea at St James’ Park.

The win coincided with key players returning from injury and the scoreline was the same as Newcastle’s impressive home win over PSG earlier in the competition.

It’s easy to assume this will be an entertaining match that’s not to be missed and the pick of Tuesday night’s action. Over 3.5 goals is 15/8 with Betfair and Newcastle’s Sweden striker Alexander Isak, who found the net against Chelsea, is 17/2 with the same firm and Paddy Power to break the deadlock. He’s also 14/5 with BetUK and Unibet to score at any time.

Kylian Mbappe is the obvious choice to reply for the hosts despite being a little short at no better than 5/6 with bet365.

A Newcastle victory is tempting at 9/2 with SpreadEx and others but a draw is the more likely outcome leaving everything to play for in the final round of matches.

William Hill go 16/5 it finishes all square in the French capital while 2-2 at the final whistle is 14/1 with the same firm.

• Manchester City are evens with Coral to lead HT/FT when RB Leipzig visit the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s lean, mean, goalscoring machine won 7-0 on home soil when they faced the same opponents in the last 16 last year and over 4.5 goals this time is 29/10 with Bet Victor. Bernardo Silva is 4/1 to score at any time with Betfair and Paddy Power.

• Barnsley, Barrow, Wrexham and Notts County form Tuesday’s Football League yankee.
