Nicolas Jackson has completed a medical ahead of his proposed move to from Villarreal.
Chelsea have
The move is now on the brink of completion with reporting the Senegal international has successfully undergone a medical.
He will become the first signing of the era, arriving alongside and from RB Leipzig and Lyon respectively in deals that were agreed at the start of the year.
Jackson, 22, scored 12 goals in 26 league appearances for Villarreal last season and made his international debut last November.
Chelsea have struggled up front in recent seasons with
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also expected to leave after scoring just three goals in 21 matches while Romelu Lukaku is eager to move on after his spell back in Italy last season.
While a deal for Jackson is done, Chelsea could seek to bring in further reinforcements up front.
Inter star Lautaro Martinez is reportedly Pochettino’s preferred target while the club have also wrapped up a deal for Jamaican youngster Dujuan Richards, who will join the club when he turns 18 in October.
Chelsea have spent more than £600m on transfers over the past 12 months and the spending shows no sign of slowing down as Pochettino looks to bring in players ahead of his arrival next month.
Brighton star Moises Caicedo is a top target for the club with reports suggesting the Ecuadorian favours a move to west London.
Manchester United are also interested in signing the midfielder and are ready to ramp up that interest after failing to agree a fee with Chelsea for Mason Mount.
But Chelsea have identified Caicedo as a top target to strengthen their midfield having already sanctioned the exits of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
