Nottingham Forest hope to continue their quite incredible run of summer signings by bringing in midfielder James Garner and Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupinan.

After winning promotion through the Championship play-offs, Forest have gone pretty wild in the transfer market, bringing in 11 permanent first team signings and Dean Henderson on loan.

New arrivals , Moussa Niakhaté, Neco Williams, Henderson, Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo were all in the starting line-up at the weekend as they lost to Newcastle in their opening game of the Premier League season.

But the owners and manager Steve Cooper are not done there, with the reporting that Garner and Estupinan are the latest targets for the Tricky Trees.

Garner would not be a new face at the City Ground, having joined the club on loan from the Red Devils in January 2021 and then spending the entirety of last season with them, making 49 appearances in all competitions.

The 21-year-old was hoping to impress new United boss Erik ten Hag during pre-season, but his opportunities in the first team look to still be limited as he was an unused substitute during the defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Cooper would love to reunite with the midfielder, who could be available on another loan deal and get his first chance to impress in the Premier League on a regular basis.

Ecuador international Estupinan is also a target, having been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.

The 24-year-old has played 74 times for Villarreal in the two seasons he has been at the club but Forest would face competition for his signature if they do make a move.

The Mail names Tottenham, Lyon and Nice as interested parties in the full-back, who was signed by Watford in 2016 but never played for the club.

Forest look to bounce back from the 2-0 loss at St James’ Park when they play their first home game of the season against West Ham on Sunday.
