Oleksandr Zinchenko could be on his way to as step up plans to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
The international, who can operate as a left-back, left midfield or in central midfield , who worked with the 26-year-old during his time at the Etihad.
Cucurella, meanwhile, has emerged as ’s top transfer target at left-back after a stellar season with the Seagulls, with the 23-year-old Spaniard helping them finish ninth last term and being voted Player of the Season by both their fans and players.
Zinchenko has been used as a squad rotational player at Man City – starting just ten Premier League matches in 2021-22 – and would reportedly welcome the chance for more regular playing time.
West Ham, who qualified for the UEFA Conference League and have fellow Ukrainian Andriy Yarmolenko in their ranks, are also keen on Zinchenko as well as Frank Lampard’s Everton – who also have another Ukrainian, Vitaliy Mykolenko.
According to football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romno, the Premier League champions are willing to let the versatile Zinchenko depart, once they seal the signing of Cucurella.
Arteta has promised Zinchenko a midfield role at the Emirates – his favoured position – in a desperate bid to sign him.
The Arsenal boss is also said to believe that Zinchenko can offer more than adequate cover for injury-prone first choice left-back Kieran Tierney.
However, the Gunners’ failure to finish in the Premier League top four has impacted their transfer plans, with Arteta set to be given a smaller budget than had been planned.
Meanwhile, It is unknown how much Man City would be willing to pay for Cucurella – who cost Brighton £16m from Getafe last summer – which would unlock Zinchenko’s potential move to Arsenal or elsewhere.
