Addressing the rumours, Tuchel said: ‘If it’s true, then yeah, of course [it is worrying].

‘I would try to meet him if I was another club. He’s still our player and I think we have a good chance it stays that way.

‘But our hands are tied. We cannot speak to him or renegotiate with him and his agent.

‘It’s fair enough that he listens to other offers. That’s the way it goes. But I’m still confident [that he stays].’

On the , Tuchel smiled and added: ‘We heard the same rumours!

‘I have no confirmation for you because I’ve not spoken to Andreas about it at the moment. But we’ve heard the same rumours.’

One player who won’t be leaving Chelsea this summer is Cesar Azpilicueta, after the Blues skipper .

Azpilicueta also emerged as a target for Barcelona as his deal ran down but the Spaniard now looks set to spend at least another 12 months in west London.

Asked about Azpilicueta’s contract extension, Tuchel replied: ‘Yes, I knew it was going to happen because I knew the amount of games when it was going to happen.

‘It’s a good thing; it’s good news for us. We have a contract, he’s our captain, so there’s a very high probability that he will stay.’

Chelsea, currently third in the Premier League, face west London rivals Brentford on Saturday.
