Paul Merson says the quadruple is ‘well and truly on’ for Liverpool and predicts ’s side will beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Reds remain in contention for all four trophies after getting the better of Villarreal and booking their place in the showpiece of Europe’s premier competition.

The Merseyside club have already won the Carabao Cup, while they are set to face in the final later this month.

In the Premier League, Liverpool are battling with Manchester City, finding themselves just one point behind the reigning league champions with four games to go.

Pep Guardiola’s side crashed out of the Champions League in midweek at the semi-final stage after a stunning comeback from Real Madrid.

Arsenal legend Merson isn’t sure how City can recover from that defeat and feels the title could be Liverpool’s if results go their way this weekend.

‘The quadruple is well and truly on for Liverpool now because I don’t know how pick themselves up after this week’s disaster,’ Merson told the

‘What happened to City against , I’ve never seen anything like it. They were as comfortable as it gets and then… wow. Rattle someone sometimes and they break. That’s what happened to City. They had the final in their hands and threw it away.

‘This affects them hugely now. I don’t know how they recover against Newcastle this weekend. And Liverpool play first at home to Tottenham so they have the chance to crank up the pressure even more. Liverpool will beat Real Madrid. They won’t mess about. They will have too much for them in the Champions League Final.

‘Chelsea in the FA Cup Final is the harder game for them in my opinion. The last three times they’ve played each other the game’s ended in a draw. And let’s face it, Chelsea should have won the Carabao Cup Final. They were the better team.

‘But both those finals are winnable, and if City slip up this weekend the Premier League title is all but Liverpool’s.’
