fears teams have spotted a chink in the armour of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
The has made a solid start to his Spurs career following his summer move from Empoli, filling the void created by the departure of former club captain Hugo Lloris.
Vicario, however, was at fault for the goal which saw Spurs knocked out of the FA Cup as a result of last week’s defeat against Manchester City when he failed to cope with a corner having been put under pressure by Ruben Dias.
Everton clearly noted that error and targeted the Spurs keeper from set-piece, particularly in the first-half.
From one Dwight McNeil in-swinger, Everton found an equaliser after Vicario had flapped at the ball following a challenge from eventual goalscorer Jack Harrison.
Everton switched tactics in the second period but found a second equaliser from another dead ball situation which ended with Jarrad Branthwaite bundling home from close range and leaving Vicario a crumpled heap in the back of the net.
‘I think it’s a chink in his armour,’ former Spurs striker Crouch told TNT Sports after the game. ‘I think he’s been amazing since he’s been at the club. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper but that seems to be an issue.
‘He dropped it against Man City, against Brentford at times he had a slight issue with that and again today he couldn’t handle it when Harrison backed into him.
‘For whatever reason it wasn’t done in the second half because they let him off because it’s definitely an issue for him.’
Fellow pundit Joe Cole added: ‘He’s a young goalkeeper so he’s going to learn. From an organisational perspective Tottenham could bring a player from a different area and say your job is to clear the path.
‘Not foul him you get a blocker in and his job is to clear the way and Vicario has got to be brave and come for crosses.
‘I don’t want to be too critical because I think he’s been outstanding but there is areas for him to improve.’
