Peter Drury will replace Martin Tyler as the lead commentator from next season.

Drury, who currently works with NBC Sports as their leas commentator, will continue his role with the American broadcaster alongside his new role with Sky.

‘I’m massively excited to be joining Sky’s outstanding roster of commentators,’ Drury said.

‘To be working on the best games week in week out with a broadcaster that has told the Premier League story since the very beginning feels like the opportunity of my career and I can’t wait to get started.’

Tyler has been the voice of Premier League football since its first season in 1992 having provided some of English football’s most iconic moments including Sergio Aguero’s dramatic injury-time title-winning goal at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

‘In my humble opinion, the huge corporation Sky is today has stemmed from Sky Sports’ innovative and inspired coverage of the Premier League,’ Tyler said.

‘It has been a privilege to play a small part in the broadcasting history of the greatest league in the world.

‘Along the way I have worked alongside legions of wonderful professionals in all aspects of the television industry.

‘I thank them all for their support and expertise. It has been an honour to be a member of a very gifted team.’

Drury will join the Sky commentary team that includes Rob Hawthorne, Bill Leslie, Seb Hutchinson, Dan Mann, Gary Weaver and Ian Crocker.
