The nominees for the Footballers’ Association men’s young player of the year award have been revealed with , , and players making the six-man list.

There are five England internationals out of the six players, which will encourage Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate in a World Cup year.

Phil Foden has made the list after helping Manchester City win the Premier League title and he is looking to claim it for back-to-back years after taking the award last year.

Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have both had impressive seasons. Conor Gallagher shone on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, while Reece James stayed with the Blues and impressed at right wing-back.

The only youngster on the list not to earn a full England cap yet is Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, with the 21-year-old enjoying something of a breakout season and being a regular in the first team under Steven Gerrard.

The winner will be announced on 9 June.

The award dates back to 1974 when Ipswich Town’s Kevin Beattie won it, with a string of amazing players picking it up since then.

The likes of Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, Mark Hughes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo have won it over the decades, while in recent years, Raheem Sterling and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been recognised.
