Raheem Sterling targets Chelsea stay and is ‘excited’ by Mauricio Pochettino arrival

The international joined Chelsea in a £47.5 million deal from but has endured a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling has faced criticism for his performances while he was booed by Chelsea supporters during the 3-1 victory away to Bournemouth last weekend.

Chelsea need to trim their squad this summer in order to meet Financial Fair Play Regulations and Sterling has been among the players linked with a move away in the upcoming transfer window.

But according to , Sterling wants to be part of Chelsea’s rebuild and has no plans to leave the club after just one campaign.

The report also claims that Sterling is ‘excited’ by the prospect of working under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

once Frank Lampard’s reign as caretaker manager ends.

Lampard, meanwhile, also insists Sterling’s poor form this season is only ‘temporary’.

When asked about the boos for Sterling and Hakim Ziyech after the win over Bournemouth last Saturday, Lampard said: ‘Opinion can always change in a period but they [Sterling and Ziyech] are two players that want to do well and have big talent, both of them.

‘Sometimes, if it’s form, there has been a lot of under-performance this year, that is temporary.

‘And I think their class is permanent and it showed when they came on. Today was a nice small step forward.’
