interim manager has ordered Darren Fletcher to stop ‘barking orders’ from the touchline during matches, as he feels the Scot is undermining him.

Fletcher, 38, was appointed the club’s new technical director in 2020 after ending his playing career.

The Scot is a respected figure at Old Trafford, having spent the majority of his playing career at the club before doing his coaching badges with the academy.

However, his presence on the bench during matches is peculiar given his role on the club’s board, and Rangnick is said to be angry that Fletcher takes it on himself to give instructions on the touchline.

The Telegraph claim the German has asked Fletcher to refrain from giving out orders, as he feels that it undermines him and the instructions that he’s already given to the team.

Rangnick is also said to be baffled as to why Fletcher participates in training sessions when numbers are low.

The Scot was appointed to oversee the day-to-day operation of the club, including decisions over recruitment and the academy.

Fletcher was not expected to have a hands-on role within the coaching set-up, despite serving as one under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United are set to revamp their scouting network this summer after discarding of Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout.

Rangnick is said to be shocked by United’s recruitment and the club’s lack of expertise when it comes to identifying new talent.
