believes will sign ‘two or three’ strikers in the summer transfer window.
Incoming boss Erik ten Hag arrives in the summer tasked with bringing the glory days back to Old Trafford and will set about bringing in a host of fresh faces.
Whilse defensive midfield is said to be a priority, Rangnick, who will move into a consultancy role at the club, believes new attackers should be the focus.
His comments come amid growing uncertainty around ’s future amid suggestions the forward could look to leave in the summer.
‘This is a question you need to ask Erik ten Hag,’ Rangnick told Sky Sports when asked about Ronaldo’s future.
‘He’s showed that he can still be a vital part of this team, but it’s obvious the team needs some more strikers. There should be two or three new strikers next season, it’s pretty obvious.
‘If you think of Manchester City and Liverpool, they brought in [players] every transfer window.
‘They strengthened the team, they brought in players not that popular at the time when they signed and developed into the two best teams in the world.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if they play in the Champions League final in a few weeks.
‘This shows it is possible that this can happen and it would not necessarily need three, four years in order to do that.’
United already look likely to have to replace Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial at the end of the season while Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move away given his struggle to find form.
It remains to be seen if Ten Hag wants to keep hold of Ronaldo but with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner the club’s top scorer this season with 23 goals it would be risky to allow him to leave.
