says Alejandro Garnacho is one of Manchester United’s ‘most promising players’ and could establish himself as a first-team player for the club.
The 17-year-old was included in United’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Norwich City at Old Trafford, starting on the bench.
Garnacho has been training with the senior team after scoring 12 times at youth level for the Red Devils this season.
The forward, who was signed from in 2020, has been rewarded with a place in the matchday squad and therefore could make his senior debut against the Canaries.
‘[Garnacho] has been training with us [the first team] for the last two weeks and I know that he is one of the most promising players,’ Rangick told MUTV before kick-off at Old Trafford.
‘[He is] still only 17, but a player that hopefully if he keeps his feet on the ground. If he keeps trying to get better every day, then he will not only be sitting on the bench but there is every chance he will be playing for this club.’
The Red Devils appear to have taken a step closer to hiring Rangnick’s successor, having reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Erik ten Hag.
But no official announcement is expected until after Ten Hag’s Ajax’s side take on PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup final on April 17.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the 52-year-old to ask questions about the club’s recruitment.
Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel: ‘He needs time to build. I’m really interested to see who he goes to in terms of recruitment. What’s it looking like behind the scenes?
‘I know the guys that are there at the moment are really working diligently to get something in place, a structure that enables the manager – whoever it is – to come in and have a real good go at getting the right talent.
‘And it’s about as well that conversation with Ten Hag and the people that are running the club: “How is the recruitment done? What players are coming in? This is my style of player.”
‘The key conversation is, who’s that being driven by: the manager who’s coming in or the recruitment staff who are saying: “This is the Man United player coming in, this is the Man United DNA, this is what we want”?
‘Those are the conversations that I’m sure are happening and I’m sure in time when it all unfolds we’ll start to get a better understanding, because the recruitment has not been good enough. I think if people are honest at the football club they will say the recruitment has not been good enough for a long time.
