Ralf Rangnick rules five Manchester United stars out of Norwich City clash and provides Luke Shaw update

has ruled five players out of the upcoming Premier League clash against and provided an injury update on Luke Shaw.

Top-four chasing United welcome bottom-placed Norwich to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, looking to bounce back from .

The Red Devils, who are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, should be too strong for a Norwich side who have amassed just 21 points this season and are set to be relegated to the Championship.

But Rangnick will be without five first-team players as Shaw, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Fred are all struggling with injuries.

‘Five players will still be missing for tomorrow and some of them probably for the upcoming games,’ Rangnick said at his pre-match press conference on Friday before naming the absentees.

Rangnick also gave up update on England defender Shaw, who was after returning from the treatment room during the international break in March.

‘Shaw had his bolts and metal stuff removed from his leg,’ Rangnick said. ‘It seems like he will be out for another at least four weeks, if not five weeks.

‘I think it will be difficult for him to be available for any of our remaining games.’

Rangnick, who was appointed Manchester United’s interim manager after , is coming to the end of his reign at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will make a permanent appointment at the end of the season and are .

Ten Hag has and Rangnick was equally coy when asked about the situation ahead of the Norwich game.

‘I don’t know if it’s a done deal,’ he said. ‘My reply is the same as Erik ten Hag’s. My focus is on the game tomorrow.

‘Again, we all know he is a good manager, that he has done a good job at Ajax and also at former clubs, but right now it doesn’t make sense to tell you what I think about any other coach.’
