legend Raul has reportedly turned down the chance to become Leeds United’s new manager.

Leeds are on the hunt for a new head coach after sacking Jesse Marsch on Monday following a poor run of results that have left the club 17th in the table, above the relegation zone on goal difference only.

They haven’t won a Premier League game since November 5th and last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest was the final nail in the coffin for the American.

Various names have been linked with taking the reins at Elland Road, with ’s Carlos Corberan and Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola the current favourites.

However, according to Sapnish outlet , the West Yorkshire club have already made an ambitious approach for Raul, only for the legendary forward to turn them down.

Since 2019, the 45-year-old has been the manager of Real Madrid Castilla, aka Los Blancos’ reserve team and while it is said that he could be interested in taking on his first senior job, he does not want to leave Madrid halfway through a season.

Next Leeds manager odds:

Carlos Corberan – 6/5

Andoni Iraola – 2/1

This is not the first time Raul has been linked with a manager’s job in recent times, with several clubs in his native Spain as well as Schalke and Frankfurt in Germany, attempting to secure his services.

One of the greatest forwards of his generation, Raul spent 18 years at Real Madrid, scoring 323 goals in 741 games, making him the club’s record appearance holder and third highest goalscorer, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

He won six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues with his boyhood club before leaving in 2010, taking in spells at Schalke, Al-Sadd and New York Cosmos before retiring in 2015.

In the meantime, Leeds have announced that coaches Michael Skubala, Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas, will take charge of the team for Wednesday’s match at rivals Manchester United.
