has urged to leave Tottenham if his priority is to win trophies.

The 29-year-old etched his name even further into Spurs folklore on Sunday by eclipsing Jimmy Greaves to become the north club’s all-time record goalscorer with the decisive moment in a 1-0 win over .

Despite finding the back of the net for his boyhood club on 267 occasions, Kane is yet to win major silverware with his boyhood club and is again said to be contemplating his future with 18 months left on his current contract.

Kane came close to leaving Spurs 18 months ago when Manchester City made him their No.1 target, but the presence of Erling Haaland has blocked that particular escape route.

but a resurgent Manchester United would no doubt test Daniel Levy’s resolve, especially given Erik ten Hag’s need for a new No.9.

The England captain’s next personal target centre’s on breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record and he is minded to remain in England, whether that be at Spurs or a rival.

Regardless on individual honours, Ferdinand believes if Kane wants to avoid finishing his career without lifting a major trophy he has to call time on hi s Tottenham career.

He told Vibe with Five: ‘We spoke about this before. I want to hear Harry say it,’ he said. ‘Would you be happy to finish your career with no trophies but as the highest goalscorer in the Premier League’s history? If he says yeah, then that’s it. Argument done. Whatever we say is irrelevant.

‘He’s going to target what he wants to achieve,’ he added. ‘Now some players would go, “no, no. This is about the team. I want to win the league or win trophies or whatever, if I could do both then great”.

‘But listen, it’s down to him. It’s horses for courses for certain individuals, everyone has their own desires. But now it’s time for Harry Kane to decide what that is.’

Kane could end his silverware drought in the next four months given Spurs are in the fifth round of the FA Cup and are strong favourites to progress to the quarter finals of the Champions League at the expense of Milan.

Chasing down Shearer is, however, is certainly on Kane’s radar and confirmed as much in the aftermath of Sunday’s epic achievment.

‘I’m feeling good. I saw Alan earlier in the week.’ he revealed. ‘I’m sure he’ll be watching but not sure if he’ll be happy or not!

‘I’ve got plenty of goals to come. I’m feeling good. Alan has set the record to beat. I’ll see if I can beat it.’
