continues to be a cause for concern for legend , who believes his poor form is a sign of further problems behind the scenes.

Rashford had another day to forget in a United shirt on Saturday as he started the game but was substituted after 64 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to at Goodison Park.

The England international has not scored in any competition since netting the winner against West Ham on 22 January and his future at Old Trafford has been called into question.

His Red Devils contract expires next year and after a pretty woeful season so far, United may look to cash in on him this summer, something that Ferdinand feels must be hampering his performances.

Ferdinand reckons the interim manager situation with Ralf Rangnick, Rashford’s contract and the general malaise around the club are making it hard for the striker.

‘He’s left me worried and I’m asking a lot of questions about what is going on behind the scenes. Slumped shoulders, not as confident,’ Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

‘I don’t think he can hide it through his body language. He wants some success back at the club. The uncertainty with the manager and his contract.’

The 24-year-old has scored just four Premier League goals this season and Rangnick has already said that if Rashford wants to leave in the summer then he can.

‘I don’t think this is an issue and he never said anything about that when we spoke yesterday. But again, the window is closed right now,’ Rangnick said of Rashford in March.

‘Even, suppose he and his agents or his family at one stage of the summer think about maybe going to another club, well then he can do that, but in the summer.’

The defeat to Everton left United’s top four hopes in tatters, sitting seventh in the table and six points behind Spurs in fourth after Saturday’s action.

Spurs are now in pole position for the fourth Champions League spot, with their crushing win over Aston Villa and Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton handing Antonio Conte’s men the advantage.
