Old Trafford legend Keane is confident his former club can go to another level next season and even challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Asked who he sees as Man City’s biggest challenges next term, Keane told Sky Sports: ‘I’m going to go for Manchester United.
‘I hope it comes from United. It will depend of course on the takeover and the recruitment this summer because they need a world-class striker.
‘You would hope to think United can challenge next year but it’s going to be very, very difficult because Man City are brilliant and have a great, great manager.’
While Manchester United will attempt to win their first league title since 2013 next season, recent champions Liverpool and Chelsea will look to climb up the table following underwhelming seasons.
Liverpool finished fifth – – despite an impressive run towards the end of the campaign, while Chelsea suffered their worst season in almost 30 years as they finished 12th, closer to the relegation zone than the top-four.
