Arsenal ‘got giddy’ and were caught up in the plaudits they’ve been receiving so far this season before defeat to .

That’s according to Roy Keane, who says the Gunners were given a reality check at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side saw their 100% start to the season come to an end after a 3-1 defeat at the Theatre of Dreams.

Arsenal played well at Old Trafford but United hit the Gunners on the break and could have extended their lead in the final stages.

There’s no doubting the improvement in Arsenal so far this season, with most in agreement that the Gunners are an all-together different proposition under Arteta.

But Keane says the club got carried away with the fine start, and were too interested in the plaudits ahead of their defeat at Old Trafford.

‘We’ve been sitting here and giving Arsenal a lot of plaudits but I never worried about the plaudits I was interested in the points,’ said Keane.

‘You can praise Arsenal all you want but this is about results and winning football matches.

‘That’s the question mark over this group of Arsenal players. They’ve had a brilliant start to the season but when it’s 1-1 and the momentum is with them they end up losing the game.

‘You’re thinking at least get a draw out of the game. They got giddy and got excited.’

United’s win takes them to within three points of leaders Arsenal and ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Red Devils lost their first two matches of the season, which is the first time they’ve done so in Premier League history.

But Ten Hag’s side have responded well to their dreadful start with four wins on the bounce.
