Sergio Aguero has blasted ’s decision to sell Raheem Sterling to rivals , claiming the club have a habit of making ‘strange decisions’.

The England international ended his seven-year stay at the Etihad earlier this summer by joining Chelsea in a £50m deal.

Sterling had a year left on his deal in the north-west and couldn’t give him the assurances he craved over regular playing time, particularly ahead of the this summer.

City have since sanctioned the departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, having allowed Gabriel Jesus to join the Gunners earlier in the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side now appear measurably stronger, while Sterling is a huge coup for Todd Boehly as he begins his era as Chelsea co-owner.

Aguero had been keen to stay at the Etihad in 2021 and was angered by the way the club handled his exit, feeling he deserved more as the club’s record scorer.

And, in a dig at his former club, the Argentine says selling Sterling is just the latest example of City’s increasing habit of making ‘strange decisions’.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, the former Atletico Madrid ace said: ‘I don’t understand the sale of Sterling.

‘There are times they (City) make strange decisions.’

City have signed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer to bolster their frontline, while Jack Grealish is expected to take a more prominent role during his second campaign at the Etihad.

The club are interested in signing Brighton defender Marc Cucurella but they are refusing to pay the Seagulls’ £50m asking price for the Spaniard.

Consequently, Chelsea have agreed personal terms with the left-back and hope to hijack the deal.
