Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani remains confident of completing a takeover of ahead of tonight’s third round deadline.
The Raine Group, who are overseeing the process, have set a 10pm deadline of Friday night for interested parties to submit their third proposals for investment of the club.
Jassim has been the favourite since the opening proposals were made, such is his financial superiority over the other bidders.
The Qatari is promising to wipe United’s debt and make significant funds available to either renovate Old Trafford or build a new stadium.
However, while Jassim will not consider anything but a complete takeover, his rival Sir Jim Ratcliffe has floated the idea of keeping the Glazers on board.
Two of the six Glazer siblings are keen to remain at Old Trafford, particularly after Erik ten Hag has revived the side’s on-pitch performances.
That raises the possibility of Ratcliffe buying out a working majority of the club but keeping the Glazers in a minority share.
But ESPN say Jassim remains confident that his bid will be successful as he’s offering more than any other bidder.
The Raine Group are likely to select one bidder to be given exclusivity in the coming days, where they will then finalise negotiations for a deal with the Glazers.
It remains to be seen who they choose but it will depend on tonight’s final offers.
